The Importance of Annual Exams

Regular check-ups are the best way to keep your pet healthy and to prevent problems from worsening or becoming too costly. We recommend yearly wellness exams for every cat and dog, although more frequent visits may be encouraged. During a routine exam, we listen to your pet’s heart, evaluate the eyes and mouth, and check the body for abnormal lumps. This is also a good time to discuss concerns that are unique to your pet.

Vaccines are crucial to protect your pet from unwanted illness. When determining a vaccination schedule, our team takes into account many factors, including age, lifestyle, and risk for certain diseases. The annual wellness exam is also an ideal time to discuss strategies for parasite prevention.
Microchipping is a safe, easy way to reunite you and your pet should you become separated. Each microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is implanted between your pet’s shoulder blades. If your pet goes missing, most hospitals and humane societies have electronic scanners that detect the microchip and ensure a safe reunion. The procedure itself is simple, and the microchip remains active for the duration of your pet’s life.
