Canine and Feline Oral Care

Proper dental care is essential to your pet’s health and well-being.

Proper Dental Care

Just like humans, dental, and oral health are imperative to your pet’s wellness. Left untreated, conditions such as gingivitis and periodontal disease can lead to tooth loss, cardiac issues, or kidney disease.

At Companion Animal Hospital, we provide several dental/oral services, including:

  • Comprehensive oral assessments
  • Dental cleanings
  • Extractions
  • Tooth repair

For some procedures, a pain management plan may be necessary. Please consult your veterinarian about special considerations that may be appropriate.

Digital Radiographs (X-Rays)

The majority of an animal’s tooth lies below the gumline, making it difficult to detect problems through observation alone. However, digital X-rays allow us to see and do more when it comes to your pet’s dental health. Digital X-rays provide better images, decrease radiation exposure, and lead to quicker, more reliable results.

Dental Cleanings
Pet dental cleanings are similar to those performed on humans. The only difference is that veterinary cleanings are conducted under general anesthesia. This ensures the safety and comfort of every pet. At Companion Animal Hospital, we believe regular cleanings are essential to preventing more serious health problems. Please don’t hesitate to contact us to schedule an appointment for your pet.
Preventive Dental Care
Caring for your pet’s mouth and teeth at home is just as important as regular veterinary check-ups. While there are many strategies for preventive dental/oral health, brushing your pet’s teeth may be the single most effective thing you can do. Daily brushing protects against future pain and disease and can decrease the long-term cost of veterinary care.
